TEAM TRADITIONS

Traditions make us who we are!  Our traditions unite our team, and create friendships you wouldn't have expected!! We make our own culture here at Mica Mountain.

STATE SHIRTS & CUCINA TAGLIANI!

We started the tradition of having the State team arrive at State in style. This year, the athletes helped design and pick the color. We also munch on delicious pasta the night before State at Cucina Tagliani when given the chance.

SENIOR NIGHT!

We like to celebrate our seniors. Parents help create a memorable experience and we announce various survey results that seniors took over the PA system on the track. Good times!

Team Declarations!

Attitude matters. Take a look at what our students think with these visual posters that explain their foundational values.

Fun Sock Fridays!

Every friday we wear fun socks! We have the best fashion sense 😎

Mt. Lemmon!

We head to Mt. Lemmon whenever we have a chance. Hilly tempo work? You bet! Trail running? Yep! Picnic lunch...of course!

Pasta Parties!

Before every dual meet, we have a team pasta party! We load up on those carbs to prepare for our meet the next day.

Tie-dye Party!

We tie dye socks and shirts to go along with our fashion sense!

Aquathon!

We partner with the MMHS Swim team (Mrs. Farr) for an aquathon, we run a mile, and swim a mile!

Our 2022 champions!!

Evelyn Miller and Connor Grusendorf, way to go XC!

Unfortunately we were not able to have the Aquathlon in 2023 which makes us even more eager to do it next year!

Handstand Competition!

Each year we have a handstand competition with the cheer team. In 2021, Michelle Zubel from XC won!

Vail Classic!

This is a tradition we started, where the 4 Vail High Schools compete. Vail Classic Boys Champs -- 2 years in a row!

Our team will cheer you on for your Jingle Trail 5k or kids 1k. Building on the history of this event created by the amazing Taggart family, we're proud to support the community of runners out there and open up our course to you for this very special event. Holiday themed surprises will be spread throughout the course along with cheering by the team to help get you to the finish line. Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in each age group and all kids 1k participants will receive a little gift too. We aim to collect 1 new and unwrapped toy from each participant and fill a district bus with over 500 toys at this event. Thank you for being a part and supporting our community and Cross Country program.
